47. 'American Dream / American Nightmare (Wizard of OZ)'. 2019.3 @ 64" x 69" American cloths. 900.00

The dream of an immigrant can easily turn into a nightmare. Dorothy arrives in a strange new land full of hope and plans: it can turn ghastly wrong. Fierce eagles remind me of the not friendly flying monkeys on the Wizard of Oz. Foreboding black bunting surround all. One side is full of color, the other side is ghostly pale.

Turning woven "quilts"; like flipping Beatles 45's from side A to side B.

These 'A' sides, will be flipped to the 'B' sides for the last 5 days of 'It Takes a Village' at Oak Park Public Library. Saturday March 23, at 1:00.

Yay, midwest fabrics! I came home from Hawaii to discover very heavy, full to the brim garbage bags. Thank You Sun Smith-Foret for gifting fabric pieces, Deanna Duft Frailey for schlepping them to my daughter Ellen's place in St. Louis, and Daniel (Ellen's 2nd cousin), for hauling them up to me in Oak Park.

     If a sea turtle in the cool depths of the ocean looks up and see fireworks high above her in the sky; does it catch her eye? Is she curious? What is that flash? Is it far away or is it near? Does she bother with the activities of men, outside her dark wet world of the sea? Unfortunately for her and other creatures that share our planet, what we humans do eventually impact their world too.
