An informal listing of work. Spiraling out from the 'piko'; I weave two quilts that exist as one. Two stories echo, compliment, or debate each other. They are in "syzygy"; forever yoked together. In the tradition of quilts I use thrift store finds, or fabrics gifted to me, or salvaged throw aways; I'm always on the cheap. I question what is considered ugly vs beautiful. And I hope to tease out a story of interest while teasing the eye.

A surprise at Firecats Gallery while Hannah Deaton documented my work.
Helen O'Rourke was my SAIC Fiber Dept. advisor in 1977, she came with silky fabrics for me. I haven't seen her since 1980! So delighted and surprised I didn't finish taking the last photo of 'Mandala (Silky)'. We forgot to flip it for one more picture. See 4th Presbyterian show Jan. 1917.
We were much more jolly then the photo indicates.
'Syzygy' show at Firecat Projects Gallery. Both sides of woven quilts; except for 'Mandala (Silky)'. See 4th Presbyterian show Jan. 2017.

'Syzygy:To Yoke or Pair Together' showing at Firecat Projects Gallery, Chicago until Feb 17. "Artist Talk" on Sunday Feb 4, 2-5pm. I will also be at the gallery 10am - 4pm on Feb 6, Feb 7 and Saturday Feb 10. I will attend the 'Truth or Lie Reading Series' on Sunday night Feb 11, 7 - 9pm.
I donated a small blanket to help fund the gallery in Dec. 2016. Barb, my weaving classmate at University of Hawaii in 1976 (!) saw it on Facebook and purchased it for another weaving classmate, Gina, so she can give it to her first grandchild. Here they are from Hawaii!

My half advance went to fix a dead Bernina. May it rise from the grave.
My first Bernina was bought around 1977. I purchased a 2nd machine on Ebay while searching for a working pedal.
Now 40 years later one's tension makes it useless and the other just up and quit.
The tension was fixed by replacing a nicked part. And I expect Lazarus home soon with new motor brush.
Both metal constructed; solid.
