A synthetic silky robe torn into strips and woven with calm colors, the reverse has a circle of vibrant colors from African, Hawaiian, Tutuvi print, and cotemporary American fabrics.

1980 - Postcards. Phyllis Bramson's show 'Under The Pleasure Dome' reminded me of what I made by juxtaposing two postcards together. I was much younger then.

For Valentines Day

For Christmas 2015, I donated a small weaving to Stan Klein at Firecats Projects, Chicago. To be sold in their backroom gift shop.

I thought I would post a little advertising video on facebook. I mentioned it was a quilt just waiting to swaddle a baby. Then I forgot all about it. In Jan 2016, I received photo of what appears to be one of my quilts, warming a baby?! Hmmm? Who's baby? Come to find out my friend Barb in Hawaii saw my facebook video and purchased the quilt. It was sent to friend Gina, in LA for her new granddaughter.

Bloody Finger and That's How It Works.

One day I thought listening to a meditation talk by Sharon Salzberg on Mindfulness would teach me something while I sewed. Well, it taught me I wasn't focusing enough on my sewing and I sewed my finger. I was attached by black threads through my nail and finger to the sewing machine! 

That woke me up.

So this is how it works. I weave strips of fabric together. I disengage the feeder foot on a simple sewing machine, using the darning foot to freely circle each intersection. That stops the unraveling of the woven threads because each raw cut edge is crossed with several stitches. I'm so practical, these have to wash. They also have to have two faces. One side and then the other side.
